Hello!
((I live pretty far away from my local pension office so Im hoping to get some answers here to see if I can save myself the journey or not)
When I first arrived in Japan I applied for pension exemption and I got approved. I recently started making money now from a hobby I started (which means Ill be saving and remitting my own taxes next year since I dont have an employer), but I was wondering if anyone knew the process of changing pension exemption status?
How much do I have to be making ? (im sure I'd still qualify for exemption if I made 1000 yen, but is there a magic number where that changes?)
to change exemption status can I do it online or do I have to go in?
Does exemption status rely on previous years income like NHI does or do you need to let them know as soon as you start making money?
The hobby that has created a revenue is online, with a monthly payout, so I havent actually received anything in my Japanese bank account yet, but im trying to get all the backend stuff sorted before my first payout so I don't mess anything up and risk a visa denial or something down the line. It's not life changing money or anything, but in my first month ive made about 180,000 before taxes which isn't nothing.
I am a resident of Kanagawa if it matters.
Any info is appreciated. Cheers!
