



I found some of the material that was handed down to me when I first started learning Japanese in 2003. I wouldn’t recommend this guide, one because I don’t think many people have cassette players, and it’s mostly a crash course in getting around Japan.
The tapes have actual Japanese people speaking, so hopefully people didn’t rely on the cheat sheet that came with this.
But this course is the reason why to this day the following phrases are always come to mind in certain situations. They’re not wrong… but don’t map one to one with English.
No thank you = いいえ、けっこうです
I’m good, thank you = はい、元気です、おかげさまで
