Maybe this is just me taking an incredibly petty victory lap, but

Can we all have a big ol' laugh about how Wrestle Kingdom outdrew WrestleMania this year? Honestly, that's fucking insane.

  1. there is still time but it’s looking like it yeah, and i will say that is pretty fucking insane

  2. It is petty, tribalism is always petty. We should be happy when every company is thriving, because that only helps the wrestlers and gives us the fans more options.

  3. WK sold 46,913

Mania has 40,610 for night one and 42,769 for night two at the time of posting.

    Both nights will outsell WK.

    Also, who gives a shit?

  4. I’ve watched wrestling for just short of 40 years, started in about ’87. I can’t remember a time when widespread opinion was this negative about WWF/E. Even the PG era felt like it had more fans to me. This is the time for everyone else to be firing on all thrusters, and it’s great to see that NJPW managed to start the year off with such a kick

I don’t want WWE to fail or fall or anything stupid like that for the record. Or even think it can. I think right now other companies are just doing a good job of offering a compelling alternative. I’d like to see WWE get back to being good (for what their fans want) too, and I’m hoping that other companies proving they can still grow their business just keeps everyone putting their best foot forward and all of us getting the product we want to see from our outlet(s) of choice

  5. The attendance of another show is irrelevant.

I just care that I was there live and in person

  6. It’s cool that NJPW seems to be in good financialy health. But I don’t understand why the fans should be taking victory laps ?

Should the WWE mock NJPW when, at the end of the year, NJPW gross won’t even come close to one month of WWE’s gross ?

  7. This sub has taken up all the worst behaviors of r/SquaredCircle without the snarky humor that made it somewhat worthwhile before the propaganda bots took it over.

  8. I think it shows how important cena and Tanahashi were respectively to each promotion

  9. For a company centered on storytelling, most of the buildups have been so ass. Orton Cody McAfee Jelly bs, Roman barely appearing and when he does he’s being outclassed, Rhea Jade focusing on their allies rather than themselves,

The matches will probably be good but man the TKO involvement hss been so bad for the actual on-screen product

  10. It’s not a fair comparison but GODDAMN it’s nice to say. Take that petty victory lap! How often do we get the chance?

  11. As a njpw world subscriber this is not a smart thing to say because I watched the new Japan cup and a few of those shows had hundreds of people in attendance. Some of those shows I could count the number of people in the audience. So no definitely not a time to take a victory lap

  12. Ik people saying the build but let’s be fr last years build wasn’t good either and it drew , it’s the price of the ticket and running them prices back to back years unless ur rich u can’t pay that

  13. Mania buildup has been ruined by celebs but attendance is due to way more factors than just the creative. And it’s an odd victory lap to take because it’s 2 businesses and you’re ignoring the financial aspects of what these shows bring in.

  14. To think that WWE will be following this garbage up with Wrestlemania in Saudi Arabia next year. TKO killed their biggest show
