Hey everyone!
I just moved to the Tokyo about a week ago and the "gaming itch" is already hitting hard. I actually sold my PS5 before moving to keep my move solo and light, but now that I am settling in, I realized I need my gaming fix to unwind after work.
I'm mostly a casual gamer with a heavy preference for PvE. My usual rotation includes Space Marine 2, Arc Raiders, God of War, and Ghost of Tsushima/yotei.
I'm currently torn between 2 very different paths:
1. Console Route I could go hunting for a 2nd hand PS5/Xbox in Akihabara or at a Hard-Off. I've seen there is ~55,000yen "Language Locked" version, but my japanese is sucks. Plus, I would need to buy a monitor and a desk/setup, which is a bit of a hassle while I'm still getting my apartment sorted.
2. The Handheld Route I'm leaning towards this for the simplicity. I'm stuck between the ROG Ally (specifically the X) and the Steam Deck OLED.
Since I play a lot of demanding AAA titles,
- Does the ROG Ally X's extra power make a massive difference for those specific games?
- Is the Steam Deck OLED experience better for someone just looking for a "plug and play" vibe?
- For those living here, is the second-hand market for handhelds worth it, or should I just buy new?
