Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice specifically about studying engineering in Japan.
I’m a (21M) international resident in Japan and already have permanent residency. I completed A-levels overseas with 2A and 2B, then moved here. This year I applied to Kyoto iUP and Nagoya University but unfortunately wasn’t accepted.
At the moment I’m working full-time, but I still hope to study engineering at a reputable university in Japan.
I wanted to ask if anyone knows realistic university pathways here for someone in my situation. For example:
- Universities in Japan that accept A-level qualifications for engineering
- Whether EJU would be a better route than international programs
- If EJU is recommended, what are the best ways or institutes to prepare for it
- Whether I should consider private universities besides Kyoto/Nagoya
- Any experiences applying after working full-time for a few years
Since I already live in Japan long-term, I’m mainly looking for realistic options within Japan rather than studying abroad.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
