Okinawa or Sapporo first for a Mid September trip?

Howdy yall,

Planning my second trip to Japan and the way the cards fall its looking like Mid September (14th) to Early October (2nd) is the only time I will be able to visit Japan.

I'm aware of the typhoon risks and disruptions but I'm Irish so rain is no bother to me but ideally would love to avoid.

That being said, is it wiser to Visit Sapporo at the start of the trip to avoid some of the hotter and typhoony weather? (Heard somewhere thats a good idea)

Any advice appreciated plus recommendations of places to see! Heard the food festival in Sapporo is wicked and I'm spiritually a fatass despite my leanness.
