Private Driver from Kanazawa to Shirakawago to Takayama

Hi everyone,

I could really use some advice here. I thought I had booked bus tickets from Kanazawa to Takayama with a stop in Shirakawa-go through 12Go about 3 weeks ago… but I just found out a few days ago that they were actually canceled because the bus was full, and they never notified me. They just processed a refund. 🙃

So now I’m scrambling a bit.

I’m trying to figure out the best way to get from Kanazawa → Shirakawa-go → Takayama in one day. Ideally, I’d still like to stop in Shirakawa-go for a few hours to explore.

A few questions:

Has anyone done this route recently without the bus? What are my best alternatives?

Do you have any private driver recommendations? I reached out to Kanazawa Tours but they have not replied to me.

Alternatively, how much would a taxi cost for something like this (even just Kanazawa → Shirakawa-go, then onward)?

And how easy is it to actually get a taxi for a longer distance like this? Can they be arranged same-day or do I need to pre-book?

I’m totally open to suggestions at this point, train + bus combos, luggage forwarding + breaking it up, anything that works.

This would be for next Saturday May 2nd LOL
