Solo in Japan for 1~day?

Hi everyone!

I’m going to japan in June but recently saw the opportunity to leave a day earlier for only $6 extra. My original plan is to land in HND in the afternoon on a Friday and then stay and fly to Fukuoka later that night to meet with a friend!

I was thinking to fly in a day earlier to explore a bit more bc it’s only $6 to change my flight but this is my first international trip by myself and I’m coming from Canada. I heard that HND can hold luggage so I was thinking to maybe leave my checked bag there and book a capsule hotel for the night with my carry-on and do some shopping or something + get used to the timezone?

Was just wondering if anyone has done this and would/would not recommend? I also kinda suck with directions and stuff so that’s why I’m hesitant, I appreciate any advice thank you in advance!
