Boltin Oleg deserves a run with the IWGP Heavy at some point; for my money he’s easily the best gaijin talent in the promotion (not counting ZSJ) and may even be the best gaijin in all of Japan, atm.

  1. Give that man a full year with the NEVER title to become the new king of Meaty Men, then he can grace the IWGP title with his awesomeness

  2. Bold and simple hot take. I like it. I don’t fully understand why he’s not a player in the heavyweight title picture. He’s been on a tear. Love him

  3. I’m sorry but can we stop suggesting that every main eventer gaijin should get a run with the title. I’m happy for Newman but they need to focus on giving runs to marketable Japanese talent. IMHO

  4. He’s a charisma vacuum who shouldn’t ever sniff the heavyweight belt. He’s good in his roll, though.

  5. I just don’t see it in him. Has progressed well but still not all there in being able to structure a match. Also lacking an interesting personality and/or ikeman marketability.

Then again, I have similar critiques of Callum so what do I know.

  6. I’ve got stocks invested in Oleg. I think he could turn into one of New Japan’s biggest stars in the near future. So far he’s been booked pretty well and protected even in his losses.

A tag run with Aaron Wolf and an IWGP Heavyweight Championship reign would be peak.

  7. He has to work his character a bit more, its like he’s feeling awkward when speaking

  8. He’s a great meaty big man and perfect for the Openweight picture but doesn’t have the charisma, character or fan connection to be in the IWGP picture currently

  9. Right now the only thing, imo, holding him back is his move set. But nothing will be able to match the kayfabe world of my own imagination. But he’s going to be an incredible talent and I hope he sticks around to make it up to the top of the mountain

  10. I’m a Boltin boi for certain to the point where I’m gonna go Kazakhstan in like 3 months time primarily because of him and because I like nature

  11. I’m being semantic but if he deserved a run with the title he’d already have it, they’re smart to keep him incrementally rising so that when he does win it’ll feel undeniable (like the way non heels should win the title)

It’s fun discussion though – it’s funny that the last two Olympic prospects that NJPW introduced as kind of a big deal were GoK and Oleg, and now Wolf might lap them. Should be very interesting fuel for storylines

If he builds a relationship with Wolf (and both improve well) I could see that being a WK main event, but it depends how many permutations of the new gen will get that spot (i.e: they could just cycle all the matchups between 5 main eventers and leave everyone else out, although I’d hope they go for more variety than that)

  12. Im all in on Bolten this year. After his match with ELP, I had him picked to be on the final over Yuya. He has the build to look fuckin amazing with the V4 belt around his waist

  13. 💯

He impresses and gets better every time he wrestles

Boltin shake will get super over in the states

  14. I’d love a Boltin title run, but I’ve also been of the opinion that they should focus on the Japanese talent more in terms of main eventers atm. Definitely one of my favorite active wrestlers though. He’s a million times the wrestler Newman will ever be.
