Hi everyone!
My Working Holiday Visa just got approved, and I’m heading to Japan for the winter season!
Before I start firing off applications, I really want to hear from former season workers. For those who have actually done it, what was the reality on the ground?
I’m a bit torn on which resort to pick. Niseko and Hakuba look amazing for snow, but I get the feeling they’ve lost their authentic "Japanese soul" and have become super crowded.
For the veterans out there:
- Where did you work, and did it still have a genuine local vibe? (Nozawa, Myoko, Furano… or somewhere else?)
- How was your actual work/ride balance? Did you get to ski as much as you hoped?
- Any red flags (housing traps, contract types to avoid) or, on the flip side, great experiences you'd recommend?
I’d love to hear your raw experiences, good or bad, to help me figure things out.
Thanks in advance for sharing your stories!
