Hi everyone!
I'm a college student in Mexico (23M), I'll be getting my degree in actuarial science by July 2027 (in the arguably most prestigious/recognizable college of the country), I also plan on getting a JLPT N3 by that date as well and having at least a one year experience in finance through some internships (hopefully something related to risk management, if not any area in finance). I also have plans on getting a full SOA's ASA certification by the end of 2027 (Actuarial certification from the USA), and maybe even get an exam or two of GARP's Financial Risk Manager (FRM)
I'd also be graduating with an average grade (8.6 – 8.8 /10), but with a very solid skillset on various financial and insurance related areas (software, projects, knowledge, online specializations, …).
I'd like to move to any big city (except Tokyo, but I'm not denying a decent opportunity there neither), earn around a solid ¥4M – ¥5M for living as well and just make my way up throughout the years.
I know Japan is a somewhat complicated country to move to (and is getting increasingly harder), so I'm having trouble on deciding what to do after I finish college and what plan would be better for me considering I want to stay there forever. So far I've thought of the following options:
• Apply for the MEXT scholarship and do a Master's Degree in Japan.
• Go to a language school for a few months or even a year while I search for a job there.
• Stay in Mexico one more year to get 2 years of experience, get the JLPT N2 and then look to get a job in Japan or do a Master's or Specialization at 26 years old.
What do you recommend me to do? Is there anything I'm not considering or are there better options I don't know about?
