It’s difficult to say why, but the “quota” thing always feels off, somehow. Surely it should be based on ability, regardless of sex?
Having said that, presumably there’s a fair bit of discouragement all the way down the chain? If so, is that also being looked at?
Regardless, I wonder just how many opportunities for really brainy ladies have been squandered, because crusty old gits are more worried about being one-upped by lovely lady eggheads 🙁
I feel like a better solution would be to have childhood programs that promote interest in the fields.
I hate quotas as a matter of principle but it’s not like there were no quota policies (we need 99% of men!) before.
Also quotas for professorship as well
Where’s the quota for male pharmacists, dental hygienists, and nursery school teachers?
