I just found out this year that my father died in 2019; we lost contact 1 year after my birth. My parents also got married prior to my birth here in PH, so he was automatically on my birth certificate. I got help from a Japanese lawyer, who tracked down my father's last permanent domicile, which was listed on their marriage certificate, and thankfully, his kanji name was there too. After weeks of searching, they finally found him, and sadly, he had already passed away. They also asked for his koseki tohon, and there was no record of him being married or of any other possible children. The lawyer said they can register their marriage even after his death. Do you guys have the same experience as I do? Am I really eligible for the visa?
