Anyone witness your partner getting odd comments?
Had something yesterday that slightly surprised me
We go to this pet cafe like twice a month bc it is very close to our house and we like dogs.
There was a staff we hadn’t met before.
Usually my fiancé buys a little cup of treats to feed the dogs. He gives some out but doesn’t let them eat it all. He usually hides some and slowly passes it out. The staff have never seemed to mind.
But this time I guess there is a new dog that should eating so much , and he managed to steal some treats from the stash, and the staff member kind of snapped at my fiancé and told him to hurry up and give the treats out.
He apologized and passed me two to give out, but the dogs didn’t try to eat them. She kind of irritatably told him “I need to have you immediately pass them out. Alright, that’s everything, right?”
But she didn’t notice the two I had and was trying to give out until that moment, and then she got even more irritated. We both apologized, and then she kind of got up from her crouching position and said to my fiance 「日本語ちゃんと通じていますか?」 like is Japanese being communicated to you properly?!”Or sth
When he said yes, she was just like “I’m so glad.”
Honestly, I felt uncomfortable the whole time bc even before she came over, I noticed her staring him down. It was an awkward dynamic. And I am not even really surprised by the comment. It was just weird bc he is clearly Japanese and we didn’t speak a word of English the whole time we were there, lol.
(he doesn’t speak English unless it’s a random weird word for a joke)
I felt like maybe she only said that bc I was there.
Anyone else have people make awkward comments like that?
