  3. Well she did write an open letter to the public, which was read on national news, saying that he didn’t hit her and she never intended to report him. Those are her own words.

    She and her sister were fighting and he forced them apart, pushing her harder than he should have. She got in touch with a domestic abuse helpline for advice and they sent the police to arrest him despite her protests.

    The media flat out lied about the incident, saying he hit and strangled her. Now the whole family is living through a nightmare.

  4. Seems like the daughter just wanted some advice or someone to talk to, and the cops showed up instead. Maybe a bit like calling the suicide hotline to talk it through and getting committed against your will

    What I read on Japanese papers was he grabbed her collar and pushed her down to separate her fighting with her 15yo little sister.

    Not that’s far away from being the best reaction to have, but we’re still miles away from straight up hitting his daughter.

  7. I don’t know the first thing about this story and I wasn’t there so I can’t judge.

    I will say that I once drunkenly (and alone) pressed the emergency button on my mansion intercom. 10 police officers in full gear showed up in SECONDS and asked to look around. Police are BORED in Japan.

    So if someone calls, you better bet you are getting asked to be searched, probably detained. If it was the truth, well they got you. If it’s a lie, well they still got you and your career.

    I sure hope she was telling the truth

  9. I’m a long term resident of Japan…the Giant’s manager’s boss is the media, baseball is next to godliness, the Giants are the Yankees, and cops here are very quick to shut down a scandal This guy had 4 aces up his sleeve and still got called out? He stinks of guilt. IMHO.

  12. Sue for defamation. This is literally a bullshit case of parent doing parent things. He was just breaking up a fight between his daughters.

    Daughters can get there claws out over dumb stuff sometimes it happens.

  14. But if he gets in trouble for being abusive that means I could get in trouble if I do the same thing?! Don’t be abusive then …
