i’m sorry if this has been asked before, but here goes… I’m 47, a previous GS employee (2 years, 10 years ago) with no military experience. I recently met a girl in Okinawa and am thinking about dropping everything to move there and marry her. unfortunately, I don’t speak Japanese and have no idea what to do for work so I’m wondering what the odds are of my finding something on base. I know it’s extremely competitive in terms of spouses and prior military getting preference, but is there any chance and if so, can someone point me in the right direction? I’m willing to do anything.
If the base isn’t an option, does anyone have any suggestions on what else I could do to make some money so I’m not a complete freeloader…
As far as my work experience, my GS position was just a administrative education technician position. Since then, I’ve been in IT with two years on the Helpdesk and eight years in application support, mostly workday administration.
if I could make ¥2000 an hour somewhere I’d be totally happy.
