Hi we are landing at NRT at 2:00pm and need to get to Lake Kawaguchi the same night, staying at Ubuya hotel. We will have 2 young kids and 2 large pieces of luggage with us.
Should we book a private car transfer or take the train? Price is not an issue, we want what’s most convenient.
Train option I’m looking at:
NRT express > Shinjuku Station > Otsuki Station > Kawaguchiko > taxi/uber to Ubuya
My concern about a private transfer is my daughter gets carsick on windy mountain roads, but she’s OK on well paved and straight highways. I’m also concerned about traffic hour, and believe the train might actually be faster?
My concern about the train is it’s multiple transfers, and will there frequent train availability at that hour? The express trains will have already left by the time we arrive.
We have been to Tokyo many times on business trips so somewhat comfortable navigating the train system, but we have never been to Fuji, nor with kids or luggage. Much easier to transfer solo with a carry on.
Any advice?
