Anki decks with mandatory answers

Hi! I have been very casually learning japanese for quite a few years now. But as we are planning to finally go to Japan next year I’d like to start doing a bit more.
I find I really enjoy working through anki decks in my lunchbreak but only anki decks where you have to actively answer. Passive flashcards do not work for me. So do you have any suggestions for anki decks where giving answers is mandatory? I know hiragana and katakana and am now working on building up vocabulary and learning kanji. (I’m using ankidroid)
Any other apps with flashcards and answers are also fine.

  1. I don’t understand your terminology. What are ‘mandatory answers’ and what’s the difference between an active card and a passive one? All the Anki cards I’ve used (or created) have a question on the front and an answer on the back – you only flip when you’ve thought through to the answer and then you grade yourself.

  2. Anki decks never require you to give an answer. When you have a text field, you get feedback if what you’ve written was correct, but you still have to tell it if you’ve answered correctly or not.

If you just want a text field, where you can enter your answer, you can either just use a piece of paper and write your answer down or edit the card type of your cards to include a text field.
