Hi, I’m currently a remote Fashion Design student with my school, and my husband and I have been talking about moving to Japan in 2-3 years. But since I only go to school part time right now, I’m still a sophomore student at my school, so it’s going to take me awhile to graduate with my BA. I’m learning Japanese right now, but I’m struggling to decipher the Fashion School websites that I’m looking at in Japan right now (and I can’t find a link that shows me the page in English). The colleges I’m looking at right now Shibuya Fashion & Art Senmon School, Tokyo Fashion College, and Bunka Fashion College because those are the top 3 schools that show up on a Google search. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about these schools and what you could tell me about them? I’m hoping to at least be at N3 or N4 level in the next 2-3 years. Right now I’m just doing research because 2-3 years is still a ways off and I’m taking some time off of school for now. I’m just trying to get an idea of where I have the best chance at transferring my program and what requirements I would need to be able to transfer to Japan. Also, I know that I wouldn’t be able to do school remotely in Japan. I’m just doing it remotely now because my school is in California and I’m in Michigan. I plan to get accepted into a school first, then move to the area where that school is so that I can go to my classes in person.

**Studying Fashion Design in Japan?**

Is there a reason you need to go to fashion school in Japan vs. just finishing your degree in the US? You can’t transfer to a degree in Japan, your previous studies won’t be recognised. Also those colleges mentioned aren’t universities, they’re technical colleges (専門学校).
you’ll realistically need at least N2(ish) level to be able to keep up at a 専門学校, which is the other reason you can’t find anything in English.
Bunka is probably the most well known, but it’s also pretty intense. You spend a lot of time outside class working on assignments, and a lot of money on buying materials.
I know that the youtuber Mikan went to Bunka College.I don’t think she graduated at the end but I’m pretty sure she has some videos about it that may help you.
