I was a huge wrestling fan up until about 2003 or so. I'm not sure why I stopped watching but my love for it wasn't there anymore. I lived through the Golden years and the Attitude Era. Both eras I have so many fond memories of. I had stopped watching for almost 20 years until I discovered NJPW one day last year. Now, I had always been aware of NJPW since I was a kid because of the Apter mags, but I had never seen the product because I am from cornfield, USA.
All I have to say is…wow. NJPW, for me, brings something to pro wrestling that the WWE and other American promotions don't. It feels like a legitimate sporting contest. I love the "boxing-esque" feel of the product. Not too flashy and overproduced. And the in ring work is 2nd to none.
NJPW got me back into pro wrestling after 20 years.
