Sustainability Volunteering / Intern / Jobs ???

Hi, I’m finishing up a MSc in Sustainable Development (SOAS University of London) and desperately searching for opportunities to gain experience related to sustainability analysis / consulting. I’ve browsed [activo.jp](https://activo.jp) and applied with A Seed Japan and a consulting agency Foschia Japan, but haven’t heard back. I realize networking is paramount, but live in Miyazaki so attending sustainability conferences and events is challenging. I’m open to remote opportunities. I’m continuing to learn about various skills such as Life Cycle Assessment, CDP, etc. but getting experience working on real projects would be awesome. Any guidance, experiences, whatever, would be very welcome. Thanks!

  1. I have a masters in a similar field. For jobs, you need good Japanese to do this kind of work here. Networking unfortunately seems to be the best way, other than that you’ll probably need a recruiter. Which brings you back to the first step (have good Japanese).

It’s possible there are foreign/English oriented companies/organizations, but when I was job searching in this field, out of the handful I found only 1 gave me an interview. After the second interview they said “yeah we’re really looking for someone with better Japanese, sorry good luck bye”. Which makes sense, but I’m one of the people who had 0 Japanese coming here and am still learning, but no classes or anything.
