What cafe/restaurants/snacks are currently your favorites?

Curious what’s everyone’s current favorite place! What do you usually get there?

  1. Kamee cafe in Ebisunocho is a nice little cafe with lots of seating upstairs and down. Good coffee and breakfast sets. Another cafe I like is Walden Woods in Sakaecho, serving sweets and good coffee, the feeling is avant garde inside with everything painted white the upstairs has an open room with bench seating along the walls. Favorite snacks at the moment are daifuku you can try Demachi Futaba if you don’t mind waiting in line but I prefer going to the Usagiyama shotengai (商店街) covered shopping area) next to it where a really nice obasan sells great daifuku.. I get ichigo daifuku or yomogi ( mugwart) daifuku usually with smooth beans (koshian). inside the shopping arcade in you will find a sushi restaurant, takoyaki and other vendors as well as a couple of grocery stores which sell a wide variety of items. Cheers

  2. We really love Ital Gabon. The best espresso we’ve found in kyoto, and pretty decently priced. Their pasta is very decent as well.

  3. the ones in your neighborhood where you can create a great connection with locals and feel part of something 😉

  4. I like retro cafes (kissaten) for the atmosphere, lack of instagrammers, and their old style coffee.

Ogawa Coffee main shop for morning set, and Inoda Coffee for the best Kyoto coffee. Yamazaki Coffee is pretty decent as well for coffee and food. Then there’s Hashimoto Coffee which has really good coffee and super local atmosphere, but very limited food menu. Yamamoto Coffee near Arashiyama is also worth a mention for both food and coffee 🙂
