Swimming spots

Hi! My partner and I are staying in Nago for a couple of days in July.

What are some of the best beaches on the mainland? Any swimming holes or waterfalls we should try? All info welcomed, thank you!

  1. I could really recommend Fukugawa falls, there is a nice pond to swim under the waterfall. But you will need shoes into water – there are few places to ford a small creek and the pond itself under the waterfall has no easy access – the stones are slippery under water so it is best to wear shoes, maybe even a hiking stick to avoid slipping and falling when getting in and out of the pond

  2. Tataki Falls is nice, and is on Google maps. The river trail has 2 waterfalls. at the first, you can jump down a reasonably high drop into the pool below. the second and larger falls is okay for swimming. really cool hike.

kouri jima has a bridge to get to it, and there is a beautiful and rarely visited beach there. Heres a pin: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/tkJ6VVnX9p2EAqVt8](https://maps.app.goo.gl/tkJ6VVnX9p2EAqVt8) It has always been isolated and peaceful whenever I have visited. you can drive there, but the dirt road is sketchy. probably a 15 minute walk from the nearby beach parking lot if you don’t want to risk driving.

I second the fukugawa falls comment. Great place to swim. Short hike.
