Google Maps is currently showing some really bad traffic in Nanjo too. I suspect the whole town must be suffering right now.
I went yesterday evening to pick up my membership card. There were many people who camped out there. I’ll go in a few weeks after the excitement dies down…no way am I going to sit in that kind of traffic lol
Never expected this post to be the way I found out that a Costco just opened up in Okinawa.
People have been camped out since midnight.
Not sure what the hype is about? I can see if these are mostly Okinawan/Japanese customers suffering from long wait but you need help if you’re American trying to get in. 🤣
5 hours wait makes no sense at all. After comparing costco pricing with local supermarkets, the savings don’t warrant such a ridiculous wait. The food court (pizza and hotdog) are good deals though. It is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than Jimmy’s ripoffs though.
I wish cops would ticket asshats that block traffic flow by parking in the street waiting to get into places. Pisses me off to no end.
These type of things, be it in Japan or anywhere else in the world, always makes me question how little people value their time, especially their free time.
It’s like when I see people waiting hours in line for a free $5 item.
To wait 5 hours in line for a store, I’d have to be getting at least a $400 discount on something or it’s just not worth it
The headline should read There are people willing to wait 5 hours to park at Costco
That’s why I’m waiting until October when the new and shiny had worn off to go. I will not wait in line that long for Costco.
Japanese are totally mental for new shops! They opened new Mister Donuts at my station and it was completely packed as if nobody had even had Mister Donuts before, there’s a few along the same line!
Do they accept USD?
As a long-term Costco shareholder, that is music to my ears!
