my family was stalked in okinawa

My family and friends went to Okinawa as a day trip from a cruise. There were 8 of us and we are all caucasian. me 17f, brother 18m, mother 46f, dad 50m. We went with our other friends too who were all above the age of 18, 2 females, 2 males. As we were walking through Naha Okinawa, we were sat next to a japanese girl who looked to be maybe 18-23 years of age. We were all outside of a convenience store. We got up and left as we wanted to do more stuff and to our surprise, the Japanese girl followed. She was dressed differently, almost looking like an anime character. We walked into another shop, and there she was, at the same shop. We all noticed this and started texting eachother as we didn’t wanna speak loudly incase she heard. We got up and left again, this time we crossed the road and we lost her, we went into another shop and soon after, she was there again, staring at us. It started to creep us out a bit. We decided to cross the road again and we went to this massive shop, we all went inside. She was gone, we had officially lost her, we were in the shop for around an hour or so, as we left, we saw her again, this time waiting outside the shop and staring directly at us. We all started to get a strange feeling and we thought that it may have been a coincidence, until we left, she followed straight behind us. We had to go back to our cruise and she followed us all the way back to the tour bus. Has this happened to anyone else? Or know why this happened?
i also have light green eyes and blonde curly hair if that makes a difference? She was mainly looking at me and she kept on smiling at me.

  1. It almost sounds like one of the Okinawa ghost stories. It’s a common theme to see a female ghost that doesn’t talk and just stares. But those stories usually occur at night and not in a busy shopping district. If you goggle Okinawa ghost stories you’ll see what I’m talking about.

  2. Are you blonde with blue eyes by any chance? Other than that I haven’t got the slightest clue except maybe she wanted to try and talk to you.

  3. Have you never experienced a crazy person before? They’re in every culture ma’am.

  4. ‘Tiktok’ or internet prank? or someone that’s just ‘different’. not sure if they were trying to commit a crime. strange indeed though

  5. Maybe she was mentally ill. I don’t know why she chose your family though! I’m not trying to be insensitive but you occasionally encounter people shouting to themselves or engaging in other peculiar behavior in any big city and Naha is no exception! We have a few regulars that I know of but I haven’t seen a young girl in an anime costume.

  6. My family was staying in the Hilton hotel in Chatan Okinawa. We were all down at the pool and I was hanging out with my 7 year old son in the pool. My daughter who was 12 at the time looked like she was 16 or 17. My 19 year son was laying on a chair.
2 teenage girls and 3 teenage boys who were all local Japanese got in line behind her and was standing very close to her. Where ever she walked they were close behind. I decided to call it a day and as we were drying off they decided to dry off with in 10 feet of her. I am 6’2” 265lbs with 10% bf and it didn’t phase them. My 19 year old son decided he was going to confront them as they were walking to the south pool which more adults frequent. I told him to forget about it because they wouldn’t understand anything he said. He told me that the term “Fuck you” is understood in any language. He confronted them and they backed off immediately. That was the summer of July 2021. I have since learned a few things living here almost 4 years now. The girls like your stalker just saw an American that they only really see on a movie or the internet. The girls that were with the guys I mentioned are drawn to American blonde hair blue or green eyed girls or what have you. They the guys were raised different here in Japan than we were raised in the states. My best friend here in Okinawa is a local and he told me that having a comfort zone means nothing to them like it does us. In the states someone looks at your daughter and they see the father noticed that they are looking at his daughter they try and act like they aren’t looking. Here in Japan if they see that the father noticed them looking at the daughter they try and look past the father. They get the point when the father tells them to fuck off so to speak. Just like she creeped you out because you weren’t used to the way they act socially…..she was just as intrigued because you don’t look like everyone she is used to socially. She sounds harmless but It very creepy and uncomfortable….. not gonna lie.

  7. Why did you not ask her? Language barrier is not an excuse. A simple misunderstanding can be sorted out by simple communication. Most here not knowing the intent and just merely speculating.
