I’m thinking of going to Okinawa and hoping to be able to body boarding. I’m understanding there are some reef breaks where the surf comes right to the beach or shore. Does anyone know where these locations are if I’m correct about my understanding.

Okinawa is not the place for this.
Unlike Hawaii, there’s nothing that breaks directly onto the beach. It’s all reef break, and with the exception of a few close-in spots like Sunabe, there’s a paddle out.
Because it’s largely a barrier reef situation, with the reef a hundred meters or more offshore and a deeper section on the inside, tidal currents around the reef are to be considered. Can be quite dangerous to someone who’s not familiar to navigating heavy rips through reef cuts, etc. If you’re this person, try to get hooked up with someone who has knowledge of local spots.
