i'm trying to look this up but it's hard for some reason – i'm visiting okinawa for a few weeks and was thinking of renting either a kei car or a kei van, but i don't know how to drive stick. it looks like a lot of the rental car places online don't specify if the car is automatic or manual, oddly. maybe i'm looking in the wrong places.
i'm just wondering, if i walk into a rental car place and ask for a kei van with an automatic transmission, do i have a pretty good chance of that being available?

Don’t worry about not getting an automatic. 99.9% of the rentals are Automatics. Just make sure you get a reservation for what ever car you want because supply can be low at times.
Unless you really want to try out Kei cars, just rent a small regular car. The lack of power is noticeable.
