Anyone know what this is called or the recipe for it? It was a tofu soup with spices added and it was one of the most delicious things I ate while in Japan. I would like to make it at home if I can find the recipe. This was in Tokyo, if that helps.
here’s a fun one, ramen is originally Chinese in origin and some Japanese ramen shops translated name is Chinese noodles reflecting its origins
Definitely looks yummy.
The bowl reminds me of a Korean dolsot!
it looks like regular 土鍋豆腐 clay pot tofu to me. We have some clay pot dishes especially in certain regions but typically Koreans do it (donabe) better than us
Do you have the name of the restaurant?
Kaminaridofu, which translates to “Thunder tofu” because of the crackling sound it makes when the wet tofu is cooked in hot oil.
It’s a fried dish and not a soup, although there’s some soupy sauce in the dish made with soy sauce, dashi, and sometimes mirin.
