[Spoilers] G1 Climax 35 Night Sixteen (8/13, B Block Final Night) Results

Katsuya Murashima, Hiroshi Tanahashi def Masatora Yasuda, Taichi — (8:18, Boston Crab)

  • Post-entrances, Yasuda steps up and shoves Tana. Murashima shoves him and then Taichi. After a bunch of shoving from everyone, Taichi starts the match with Murashima.

  • Pretty fun little match. Unless I completely zoned out (possible), Yasuda and Tana were never legal together.

  • Post match, Taichi helps Yasuda up while staring down the winning team. Once Yasuda’s upright he yaps at Tana a little before leaving.

Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa def Jakob Austin Young, Callum Newman — (6:22, Death Valley Bomb)

  • Post-entrances, Oiwa and Callum step up to each other and end up starting.

  • Another pretty fun one. Callum’s new cocky prick attitude is still here.

  • Post match, Callum lingers around for a minute sullenly staring at Oiwa. JAY and Big Jag also have a little staredown as they’re leaving.

Toru Yano, Boltin Oleg def Yoshinobu Kanemaru, SANADA — (5:30, inside cradle)

  • SANADA’s fashion exhibition appears to be over along with his G1.

  • HoT jump during the entrance announcements this time. Nobu and Yano stay in the ring to start.

  • We lost a ringside camera during this match, but it was surprisingly not related to the House’s Torturing.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: moderate. Milano spot seems to have been retired for now, the water bottle spot was splashless.

Daiki Nagai, Yota Tsuji def Shoma Kato, Yuya Uemura — (6:38, Campana [Boston Crab transitioned into a reverse rocking horse])

  • Bluji again. Post-entrances he and Yuya and the two YL have staredowns, then Nagai and Kato decide to start.

  • Pretty good. Tsuji put some stank on the finish.

  • Post match, Tsuji and Yuya have a staredown from in and outside the ring respectively.

  • As he’s leaving, Tsuji cheekily points out someone in the crowd, pro fighter Hideki “Shrek” Sekine.

Dick Togo, EVIL[w/Don Fale] def Gedo, David Finlay — (4:31, pin [after a Fale Grenade])

  • War Dogs are raring to go, so EVIL and Dick jump in to start brawling before they’ve even switched away from EVIL’s moody lighting.

  • Everyone brawls on the outside, though the camera only follows EVIL and Finlay. Eventually they make their way back to the ring, the House in control.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: mid-high. Finlay stole Dick’s choker and used it on EVIL, but the ref being distracted by that gave Fale the opportunity to interfere.

  • They overdubbed Dick Togo’s music ("Insane In The Brain" by Cypress Hill) with an even more out-of-place funky hip-hop groove.

  • An upset Finlay gives EVIL an extra stomp then starts arguing with the ref and yelling about something, and EVIL yells back at him, but we couldn’t hear any of it over the dub.

G1 B Block: Shingo Takagi[w/Daiki Nagai] (8 pts) def Drilla Moloney (8 pts) (point totals from before today’s results) — (12:06, Last of the Dragon)

  • Drilla steps up to Shingo right after his entrance announcement is done.

  • Pretty dang good, though I don’t think it exceeded their previous.

  • Post match, Shingo goes over and chats with Drilla. Drilla gives him a little fistbump before leaving.

  • Shingo’s win has eliminated Drilla. Shingo still has a very small chance as part of a multi-way tie with GOK and Ren that would need to be broken via an extra match.

G1 B Block: Zack Sabre Jr. (12 pts) def YOSHI-HASHI (elim)
— ( , Clarky Cat variant)

  • After the bell it’s a running start from both.

  • Great, verging on excellent. Crowd was way behind YH, but summoning the spirit of Goto wasn’t enough for Tacos to pull it out.

  • Post match, Zack starts leaving quickly and gets his hand raised while already on the outside. YH gets up and gets in Zack’s face, Zack engages for a second but then walks away.

  • Zack has secured 1st place, and eliminated GOK except for GOK/Shingo/Ren tie for 3rd possibility.

G1 B Block: Shota Umino (10 pts) def Great-O-Khan (8 pts) — (12:05, Second Chapter)

  • GOK stands strong in the middle of the ring. Shota does a lap and gives out a bracelet, making him wait.

  • Quick start with a bunch of roll up attempts.

  • Pretty good. I think it would’ve benefited from 5 or so more minutes or a slightly different match structure, I thought the finish kind of came out of nowhere.

  • Shota‘s win secures him a spot, and eliminates GOK and Shingo. Winner of Ren vs TAKE gets final spot.

G1 B Block: KONOSUKE TAKESHITA[w/Rocky Romero] (10 pts) def Ren Narita (10 pts) — (20:50, Referee Stoppage [Crossface Chickenwing])

  • Don Fale and Dick attack TAKE and Rocky as they’re entering. This is interesting because it had mostly (if not all) been Nobu interfering in Ren’s matches.

  • The crowd wills TAKE up and into the ring to officially start.

  • HoT Shenanigans level: pretty high for a Ren match, though there was a decent amount of actual wrestling to balance it out. Dick and Don were removed, but then Nobu finally popped up.

  • TAKE promo: “Listen up. Last year I got to this point too. There are people who don't want to respect me, but all I have to do is exist by my own strength. That's why all I see is what's in front of me. You want to be strong, be with me. I will show you something incredible- the G1 is coming to me! That's my message- From the Alpha!”
