While I agree that there are better small shops, Karayoshi (から好し) is probably the best chain restaurant kara-age you can find. If you ever go into a Gusto restaurant, you should find it on the menu in its own section. If you’re lucky, you can find a dedicated Karayoshi store and try all the other awesome stuff that they don’t get to sell at Gusto.
there is a place in little Tokyo that makes a habanero miso paste. the waiter recomended this paste with mayo for dipping sauce. it was incredible. “Men Oh Raman”
