Body Moisturizer Recommendations

I am in dire need of a good body moisturizer that I can buy in Japan.

After I get out of bath and apply body lotion (currently using Eucerin), I can feel that I’m getting dry 30 minutes later. I’m also experiencing rashes and itches before and after taking a bath.

I’m willing to go from drug store, donki, to depakosu. I don’t have a preference if it’s Japanese or a global brand, but one thing I’d want it is to be fragrance free.

TIA and hope everyone is prepared for the dry season…

  1. i really hate the “just out of the shower” dry feeling too. i second the recommendation for the vaseline lotion, especially the intensive repair lotion. it comes in a big bottle, doesn’t really have a scent (it kinda just smells clean to me?) and it keeps me so moisturized. like, i can feel it the next morning.

  2. Cetaphil is great. It’s the only thing that works on DH’s dry shins all winter. If you’re a Costco member you can get it there, or get it online.

  3. Buy anything with ceramide, carecera/ ceramiaid /curel /illyoon, it helps fix your skin barrier so your skin can retain its moisture

  4. If you’re extremely dry, I’d recommend Vaseline body lotion or Nivea Skin Milk しっとり

Body shop body butters are amazing if you can afford them.

Curel in shower moisture care is an interesting product if you’d like to try in shower moisturizers. You apply the cream after taking a shower, let the product soak into your skin with the steam inside the shower cabin and rub it off with a towel. It’s a good product for that mid-winter dryness.

But my current fav is Nivea Marshmallow Care as it’s oily formula is very easy to apply! Personally I find that I may skip applying the body moisturizer altogether if it takes too much time to apply 😅

  5. THANK YOU for all the recs!!! Have been using the AESTURA Barrier cream I use on my face for the time being until I find something my body is ok with.

Will check out the drugstore lotions but also will be checking out the Lush and Body Shop.

  6. I like Curel HydraTherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. It’s non scented, can be applied after a shower and before toweling off, and you can get it delivered from iHerb.

  7. If you live somewhere with a Korea-town or Korean skincare store I would go there (donki has a lot of Korea stuff too), skinfood, nature republic, body shop, those are all good.
I’ll be honest, I take a couple days trip to Seoul and stock up on skincare now and then 😂 I hate Japanese lotion, it’s like water, even the Nivea. 😩 I’ll have to try some of these recs too but I need fragrance. 😅

Or if you can find an Amway salesperson, their lotion is really good even though it’s watery. (A lady gave me a bottle once when I helped her with her groceries lol) not cheap though.
