Being an international woman researcher in Okinawa, I love some places of okinawa. This is one of them. The people who knows this place comment for the people new to okinawa.
I loved going here as a kid, I need to go again now that I’m back. The giant Shark Jaw near the tank with a couple sharks was always my favorite part
I’ve been to this place a lot, but the best time was when they were feeding the whale sharks, and all of them were swimming vertically, I only ever got to see that once, it was amazing
When I first checked-in on Okinawa in 2019, they had 3 whale sharks, two years ago they only had 2. Three weeks ago when I went they were down to just 1. I’m afraid if I ever go back they’ll be down to two sea bass and a sea snake. <sad>
The whale shark is so beautiful. I was awestruck when I went
Rest in peace, Oki-chan(the dolphin that had been loved by visitors for over 50 years and recently passed away.)🥲
Probably the best aquarium in Japan with Osaka second, maybe Otaru third.
It was amusing that the feed for the sea turtles was just lettuce
I love going to aquariums, but I almost cried when I saw the whaleshark. Such a tragedy to keep that beautiful creature captive in such a way.
Only Churami? There’s a lot more to love in Oki. Especially in the outer islands.
I got engaged here nearly 10 years ago, near the beach 😊
Bro just go out to the ocean how do you find pleasure In seeing this?
If I’m not mistaken, you can count on one hand the number of aquariums in the world with a whale shark in them. This is one of them. This one blows away the Monterey/SF/Long Beach aquariums IMO.
Pro tip, the best part is the dolphin show which is free and doesn’t require a ticket. Also, the Orion Hotel has a bar which has Orion Beer. You don’t need to be a guest. Now you know.
