Instant miso soup – storing instructions

I bought this instant miso soup mix at a local Japanese market and it was stored in the refrigerator section. When I got home I wasn’t sure how to store it and the website is saying just cool and dark place (aka not a fridge). Any insight? I put it in the fridge for now but generally curious if this needs to be refrigerated if unopened.
