Hello all,
Little drama here.
I am renting a house and am the only foreigner in the neighborhood.
I found some Pokemon plastic covers in front of my house and thought they were accidentally dropped so I threw them away.
Next day, more Pokemon card coverings littered on the ground in front of my house.
I put them out on the ground with a rock so they wouldn't blow away.
Now, they took those plastic coverings under the rock and threw them into my yard. Again, I'm renting this house so I'm wondering any good advice on how to stop this bratty behavior.

Start a Pokemon card collection and use the collected sleeves. Then showcase your collection in front of your rented house so the neighborhood kids get jealous.
There’s not much you can do honestly.
Why do you assume kids?
yelling still works in 2026
They’ll get sick of doing it faster than you think… but also consider… my house has a large parking area that the wind seems to whip around and blow through. I notice a lot of trash gets “deposited” this way. At first I was convinced someone was doing it but I sat out on the porch and watched it myself. I’m not doubting you because those plastic sheaths are heavy but… unless you see it directly might want to hold off on any action
Well if it’s a house, you are responsible to keep that little area in front of the house clean.
If it get out of hand that when people start to put cameras and start being detectives for that area.
Maybe you are thinking too much? 🤷🏽♂️
You can always complain to their school.
Just tell the nearest school to remind kids not to litter.
post a sign on the front of the house that says “area is monitored with cameras” maybe?
If it’s as intentional as it sounds, I’d get some proof and bring it up with the school. The school I worked at at least took correcting this sort of behavior really seriously.
aside from the fact whether they could be kids, i would suggest to install CCTV cameras and some motion sensor lights in your house. that way you can find out who littered.
In case you find kids doing that, then you should admonish them if you catch them. but remember never to touch them.
Report to the management company; they may put a sign on it. Don’t do that yourself as you’re just renting. As you know the time they’re coming, film it and send it to the school. Never deal with the kids directly
I’m sorry you’re going through that. You can
– Catch them in the act and ask them not to do that again. If you decide to do that, please do so politely and also record yourself by putting a smartphone in your pocket because it’s important that you have proof that you didn’t threaten or yell at any kid.
– You can put a written (or printed out) warning saying you’ll inform the parents or school.
My suggestion: just put up with it if it’s just littering. I know it sucks but there’s no guarantee the situation will get better if you somehow confronted. It might get worse.
100% the best course of action is finding out which school they go to and giving them a call.
Put up a fake “防犯カメラ作動中” sign nearby.
Call the school and tell them, they’re usually pretty good on cracking down on that kind of thing.
Find out which school they go to and call them to complain.
Talk to them, learn how to play Pokemon with them, then ask them not to throw trash in your yard.
you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar
If I were you I would find which school are they and make a phone call. The school will deal with them, believe me.
Do Japanese kids even play with Pokémon cards anymore? I can’t help but wonder if you’re making an unfounded assumption here about who is doing this. If it is kids Security camera and showing it to their parents or school is going to have the most impact
I think you can say something to kids.
There was this woman who would drop her cigs on the corner of my house. I caught her one day and was like “Can you please not do that?” and that was that. Now she averts her eyes if she happens to walk past and I am standing out side. Fine by me. No more trash. I haven’t seen her in a while, I think she takes the long way now to avoid passing my house.
Another time some dude had his “offroad” friends over revving their Jimmy mini outside in the middle of the neighborhood at like 2am. Opened the side door, stepped out and said “Are you crazy? It’s 2am!”. They stopped. They left.
Kids? Man just say something and they will piss their pants. And if they do it again yell “Do you want me to tell your parents?!”
Same thing happened to me. Buy a security camera
Get a camera.
Let’s assume the worst. It’s kids doing it. Let’s say 3 kids. Probably middle school, so 12 – 15 year olds and they deliberately did it to your yard because you’re a foreigner.
Do you think it’s going to escalate? Will these kids break in? Start a harassment campaign? Put shit in a paper bag on your front step and light it on fire?
If no. Then maybe just ignore it.
As someone who has dealt with a lots of teenagers, I assume at least 10% are going through a little antisocial stage and are going to target their antisocial activity on whatever random thing gets their attention. It’s usually not personal. It’s either you this time because those 3 kids are xenophobic or because they’re bored and you’re the most interesting and unpredictable thing in town.
For that reason I wouldn’t give it any energy. Even putting up a camera is giving them a reaction and an audience.
Grey rocking the little shits is the best way to make them lose interest and move on to something more entertaining.
I mean if you’re not afraid of retaliation- by all means yell at them, but it’s probably just gong to make them what to keep doing it.
Its probably scalpers, adults, flippers buying pokemon cards these days.
Offri dei dolcetti o qualcosa di buono a questi bambini, ti apprezzeranno e ti rispetteranno
It depends on neighborhood setup. Mine has a group of the home owners that organize things like who sets up the crow trash covers and walks to check fr fire. If you got that go to them. If they say they can’t identify the kids then do the video capture for evidence. The parents would get a warning about next generation public consideration and shamed. They may just be bullying you cause they think they can get away with it.
Is this what they call 1st world problems?
Same story but old Japanese man for me.. Here is a comment I left about it.. messed up.

Do the Japanese thing and be indirect! Put up a sign targeted at them specifically!
