We are applying for PR as a family (me, wife and child). Both me and my wife are extremely busy right now, so doing all the paperwork by ourselves is not an option at the moment. We were recommended this scrivener by 2 friends. One got his Japanese citizenship and the other got PR through this scrivener. The scrivener told us it would be ¥180,000 fee to process our 3 applications. There was no mention of a guarantee that our application would pass (of course) but after discussing our job situation and the like, he was reasonably confident our application would succeed (good permanent job, no tax or pension issues).
Does this seem like a reasonable amount? I have no idea. I've seen cheaper on Reddit and online but some of those seemed less reliable. Any thoughts or opinions on this are appreciated.

The scrivener I used offered 1 free retry and half payment up front, remaining amount if successful so I think you can negotiate a bit. Although this might differ in that they’re handling 3 people’s applications for you. If they’re that confident I don’t see why they can’t throw it in though.
Maybe a bit pricy, but for three people? Sure
It is sort of worth it cause you have someone to follow up on your application and the hassle of documenting everything itself is a big task. Every inquiry or interactions take about one month and the round trip to immigration office is also take your time.
I did use immigration law firm. ( be sure to have lawyers support ). And it took about 1.9 years in total with back and forth with documents and inquiries. They also helped me with guidance on what are the things I need todo during job switch.
Just a heads up, you’ll still need to gather all the paperwork yourself. Honestly, that was the most time-consuming part for me. Actually going to immigration to submit everything only took a few hours, which was nothing compared to the prep work. They’ll give you a checklist of everything you need, so it’s all pretty straightforward.
I paid ¥100,000 for a scrivener just for my own application back when I applied, so ¥180,000 seems reasonable for a family of three. My scrivener was very thorough and my application was processed and approved in about six months.
That’s how much I paid for one person
For three people it’s
À steal
¥60,000 each, and they handle immigration and fill out all the paperwork? That is the deal of the century.
For that price, there is no reason to suffer through three applications and immigration, nor to be able to use the side door or avail of any queries without waiting for two hours only to be told “no.” It’s worth much more than 60,000 each.
The price seems right, but I would still ask them whether they offer a re-try in case your application fails. I wouldn’t hire them otherwise.
That’s a bargain.
Just think about the price for a moment yourself. Does it seem reasonable to you? You said cheaper is less reliable, it’s not outrageously expensive, it’s not a crazy number. It can’t be that hard to decide.
That’s about right!
