Nigiri sushi isn’t the easiest. Looks like you’ve got a lot of rice. What kind of fish did you have?
Looks good other than too much rice
The great thing about sushi is that even if all the cuts are bad (which takes years to learn so definitely don’t feel bad about that), you’ll still be left with an absolutely delicious meal that isn’t really affected at all. Keep it up!
What time is dinner?
It may not be perfect in your eyes, but it looks mouth watering good in mine.
The first picture is just unflattering, especially with that lighting, but the second picture looks to die for 🤤 Quite good for a first timer!
The only issue really is how the maguro is cut; I’m not sure if you did, but next time if you do make nigiri again, try holding the meat and cutting thinly at a diagonal angle toward yourself, the slices should come out more uniform that way – The rice too is an easy fix, just take out a small amount, about golf ball sized, and shape it by squeezing it with your index and middle fingers until its an oblong shape. Once you get the rice shaped, lay the cut of fish lengthwise onto your index and middle fingers, dab wasabi onto the rice (if you’re adding it), place the rice on top of the meat, squeeze inward with your fingers so the edges of the fish wrap around the top & bottom of the rice, turn it over so the rice is downward, and viola! That should be a pretty decent piece of nigiri! The key to getting a good nigiri is using a small amount of rice and shaping it with two fingers rather than the palms or all of the fingers.
Looks great. Just gotta work on your knife cuts.
Looks great! Squid sushi is my favorite! Any tips for prepping/scoring it?

It looks good, to me, for an early try.
