Set-It-and-Forget-It Simmered Teriyaki Chicken Drumettes

Set-It-and-Forget-It Simmered Teriyaki Chicken Drumettes

Cooking Time: 35 minutes | Servings: 3

10 chicken drumettes

1 tbsp. vegetable oil

(A) 3 tbsp. soy sauce

(A) 3 tbsp. sake

(A) 3 tbsp. mirin

(A) 2 1/2 tbsp. sugar

(A) 2 tbsp. water

(A) 1 1/2 tbsp. vinegar

  1. Heat 1 tsp. of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Sear the chicken drumettes until golden brown (approximately 3–4 minutes).

  2. Add the (A) ingredients (soy sauce, sake, mirin, sugar, water, and vinegar), place a drop-lid over the chicken (or use parchment paper), and then cover the pan with a lid. Simmer over medium-low heat for 25 minutes.

  3. Flip the chicken after about 15 minutes.

4.Remove the lid for the final 4–5 minutes and simmer over high heat to reduce the sauce.

Tips & Notes

If the liquid reduces too much during simmering, add a little water and continue simmering over low heat.
