Hi, I live in Tama-ku, Kanagawa, and wanted to know if there are any places where I can practice driving with a manual car. I am currently using a IDP from the UK since I only recently moved. Thank you.

Practice as in driving school? Look at ones near where you live. All of them will have MT course.
Just to let you know if you hold a zairyu card IDP can not be used to drive and if you are called out you can get ticketed. If you want to practice correctly go to a driving school and rent out a manual car.
As in practice by yourself? Have you ever driven MT before? If your IDP doesn’t specify what you are able to drive (not entirely sure how those work), I guess you could rent an MT car out in the boonies and give it a crack.
Rental MT passenger cars would be pretty rare in Japan tho. You may end up having to rent from a more enthusiast-focused company, which would cost more than your average rental.
I would suggest watching some decent youtube tutorials too – Conquer Driving has a lot of good explainers on how to drive MT.
If your UK license specifies which transmissions you’re allowed to drive (for example AT-only), that status may be transferred to your JP license. In cases where it’s not stipulated, you might get away with an unrestricted license that lets you drive MT despite not knowing how to. I’ve seen both scenarios happen with friends who converted (none of whom needed to do practical tests).
