So the whole deal about WaniKani is to learn kanji through mnemonics but I just find them dumb and it doesn’t really work on me. So I’m still using WaniKani because I like the pace of introducing new kanji to learn and I go with it and can remember the characters through the constant reviews. Is anybody else using it without the mnemonics or is it totally missing the point? I guess not if it still works for me somewhat.

Would just recommend picking up a book like the Kodansha Kanji Learner’s Course and studying X number of kanji per day/week from it. That’ll give you the stroke order, meaning, readings, some compound words, and a brief explanation / advice for how to remember it. You can practice writing it out and make flash cards in Anki, or do whatever else works for you.
I stopped using them around lvl 15, currently on 38. I sometimes glance at them but for the most part I make my own.
The best part of using WK for me was the automatically spaced repetitions and being “forced” into a daily routine. I also started making my own mnemonics after a while, as well as synonyms for some of the dumber radical names.
