Anyone here familiar with Nuro and how the installation process goes?
I’m looking at フレッツ光 and Nuro and the latter is definitely cheaper, but the installation process… Does it really take months for them to get things running? My apartment is fiber-ready, with the cable already installed so I’m wondering if that will shorten the whole “construction” time?
Does anyone have stories they can share?

For me it took 6 months from the time I applied until they can set up the connection for my apartment. I did have fible cable, but not the one Nuro uses. My work requires a good connection, so I bit the bullet and installed Au Hikari while waiting. Once Nuro is up and running though, it is amazing.

Which fiber? NTT or nuro? They use different infrastructure, so if there’s NTT or won’t do anything to shorten the time to install Nuro. Nuro uses its own network, that’s why it’s generally faster, and that’s why installation takes longer.
I applied two weeks ago, got the confirmation letter, but I’m still waiting for their call
I think if you choose weekday construction you will get a faster response. I only had Saturdays availability so it took them 2 months to get to my place.
Ours took less than a month to set up at our house. We were told it might be months. So we were pretty surprised that we got it so early. We got it two years ago though.
Waited 11 months for initial construction. Called them and they said”oh dang, turns out your buildings management company said no so we’ll just cancel the contract for you buhbye”
From online application to live internet was 2 months for our Nuro Hikari, but we delayed by three weeks as we were out of town.
We just applied. From applying to inside installation took 1 week. Outside installation isn’t possible until August….
On that note anyone using Nuro and has severe packet loss(especially in evening it seems)? Lots of reports online about this problem
It really does take months.
Depending on the season. March/april is the busiest season
Check if they already have a line to your building, they have a search tool on their website.
In my case I just booked an appointment and a few days later they came at the appointed time and spent 30 min drawing the cable to my apartment and done. 2gbps for 2000 a month.
Do they hand out Nuro Hikari flyers to everyone arriving at Narita or something?
Why so many Nuro Hikari threads out of dozens of internet providers available?
Took 2 months from application to usable connection. Be careful of the contract period though, I had to move out from the apartment quite early (1 year into 2 year contract) and had to pay around 40,000 in cancellation fees. Speeds are alright though. Would not recommend if you won’t be staying in your current place for at least 2 years ahead.
