Interested in buying a bidet seat and wondering about installation cost (Aichi)

Hey, I’ve been spoiled by the bidet I had back at home before I moved here and further by the warm seat and water of the work toilets.

I bought a cheap bidet attachment for my toilet back home and it wasn’t too fun to install. My apartment allows us to install a bidet seat so that’s not an issue. But it’s hard to find pricing for how much it might cost for the installation cost. The websites I’ve seen advertise ~8800 yen service prices for various plumbing issues, but I’m not sure if it would be worth it to pay that much.

I’m curious if anyone near Nagoya or others in general have had this dilemma before.

TLDR: Would it be worth it to hire a plumber or handyman to install a bidet seat or should I suck it up and do it myself?

  1. Buy from a store like yodobashi/bic/ksdenki/whatever and they will have an option to install it. The price will be slightly more than online but including installation it will even out.

That said, it’s not even all that difficult to diy it, especially since all the plumbing etc is standard here. As long as you have an outlet to plug it in, its pretty easy: https://www.sunrefre.jp/washlet/diy/

  2. These seats are made to DIY install. It’s a simple procedure and done in less than half an hour. And you don’t need more than a screwdriver and a pair of channel locks or a monkey wrench for tools.

If I were you, I’d just go ahead and do it. I’d say, it’s much more of a hassle to find a reasonably priced plumber, wait for them and pay them. But if you need it, every plumber will be able to do this. Choose one that’s close to you, so you don’t have to pay extra travel time.
