BOSJ B Block: Titan def Ryusuke Taguchi — (2:34, El Shadai[?])
-
I believe this is the first show where Zane Jay (familiar to the NJoA sickos) is here as an attendant. There’s also a new bald Japanese lad.
-
Handshake before the bell.
-
Post-match, Taguchi is upset and Titan celebrates like he just won the whole tourney.
BOSJ A Block: Francesco Akira[w/JAY, Callum Newman] def Ninja Mack — (4:41, Fireball)
-
While Mack is making his entrance, Akira hits a plancha on him to jumpstart the match.
-
This was fun. Mack went super viral with the flippy shit so he did a lot of that here. The finish was actually kind of a spoof on that legendary Ibushi and Ospreay hurricanrana moment, which IIRC was also in Korakuen.
BOSJ B Block: Robbie Eagles[w/Hartley Jackson] def Kevin Knight — (9:21, Hyperion)
-
Robbie, who for some reason keeps his shirt on for the first couple minutes of the match, is definitely the more over one for the majority of the match.
-
This was good but felt a little weird to me; in the way that maybe one of them was having a slightly off night.
BOSJ A Block: Robbie X def KUSHIDA — (8:51, X EXPRESS)
- Another perfectly good match.
BOSJ B Block: MAO[w/Kanon] def Taiji Ishimori — (9:45, Osaka Rinkai Upper)
-
MAO continues to be very over and very square.
-
Now we’re starting to pick up, a great match you should watch.
BOSJ A Block: Yoshinobu Kanemaru def Clark Connors — (3:47, Count Out)
-
Clark stops at ringside and takes a second to remove his entrance before sliding into the ring to jumpstart things.
-
We get our first major outside brawl of the night, which leads to Wheel-san making an appearance.
-
If you had the last match on you might as well let this one play, but I wouldn’t seek it out.
-
Nobu loses a boot during the ending scuffle to get back in the ring and post-match, Clark throws it at him.
BOSJ B Block: SHO def YOH — (10:59, Shock Arrow)
-
Big pop for the match graphic on the screen. If you’re a new viewer, these two previously ruled the Junior Tag division for four years before SHO responded to YOH going through a slump by dumping him and becoming a founding member of HoT.
-
SHO’s “friend” (the mummy that he brings to the ring) is dressed in YOH’s new tee.
-
YOH has a bottle of whiskey, which he takes a sip of and then starts chasing SHO, seemingly trying to kiss him. But he gets a slap to the face instead.
-
At one point YOH chases SHO through the heel curtain, and then Yujiro comes through it. Then he chases YOH up the bleachers and out a side door and EVIL appears in it. 2 on 1 beat down while SHO stays in the ring and distracts the ref.
-
In the closing moments Yuj and EVIL get disposed of, but Nobu comes out and makes the difference.
-
Post-match all four Torturers stomp out YOH a bit more and then toke over his body.
BOSJ A Block: Master Wato def Dragon Dia — (8:20, Recientemente II)
- Great lucha-influenced match.
BOSJ B Block: Nick Wayne def El Desperado — (15:01, Canadian Destroyer)
-
Back to the trans flag colors gear for Nick, we’ll see if he’s fixed the pants issue. (Update: he mostly did.)
-
A couple of days ago Despe finally actually saw a doctor about all the cuts and broken glass still on/in his back, so he now has a couple bandages on it.
-
Very good overall match with some great bits; Wayne is still a work in progress but that’s expected for a 19 year old.
BOSJ A Block: Kosei Fujita def Hiromu Takahashi — (16:53, Thrill Ride)
-
Pre-lockup crowd poll sounded 65-35 in favor of Fujita to my ears.
-
Fantastic match, as one would expect. This kind of cocky gatekeeper Hiromu is my second favorite version of him. Fujita is already great and only getting better.
-
Victory promo from Fujita: Hiromu was the first person to teach him the pain and harshness of pro-wrestling. Fujita’s been talking a lot about “payback” and the “new generation,” but this is the happiest he’s ever be in his life. It is because of that past pain and harshness that he’s who he is today, so thank you Hiromu. And today, Fujita’s the winner of the main event. The fans’ hopes are safe, because Fujita will win this tournament. The mighty don’t kneel.
-
Fujita goes through the crowd slapping hands.

Hiromu/Kosei and MAO/Ishimori were easily best matches of the night for me. Always fun to see the “Ace” of a division take on the future one, in the case of Hiromu/Kosei. MAO continues to bring that fun and chaotic energy that really livens things up.
thank you as always for the recap!! what a fun night. it feels to me like hiromu’s still trying to find his bearings after naito’s departure and it showed here. also i feel like ishimori doing the exact same chair-arm-ringpost spot on mao that sho did to nick on night 1 is planting some kind of flag but i’m not sure what yet
Will concur with the other poster regarding MAO/Ishimori and Hiromu/Fujita being the standout matches. I also really enjoyed 9/10s of Robbie X/Kushida, but the wrong guy won.
I’m always struck by how not over Kevin Knight is in Japan, at least for his entrance. He usually gets the crowd into the match, but it feels like he never gets much when coming out. I guess technically the story hasn’t been much different in AEW yet, but still, always stands out lol.
Why did Wayne get a win over Despe? What story does it serve?
> I believe this is the first show where Zane Jay (familiar to the NJoA sickos) is here as an attendant. There’s also a new bald Japanese lad.
According to rumours I’ve heard, it’s either Yasuda or Yasuda.
Liquid Yasuda of the Spirit or Solidus Yasuda, saw a rumour Our Yasuda had a brother in the Dojo.
Fujita beating both Hiromu and Akira makes me kinda certain he’ll win his block at least. If he beats Wato tomorrow then I really cannot see him losing.
B Block is super weird for me. I actually think one of the guys at 0 points will win the block. I’m actually thinking it’s Ishimori for real this time, with an Ishimori vs Fujita finals and maybe having Ishimori win the whole thing for the first time.
WHEEL-SAN IS OVER, BROTHER!!
Kinda sucks that they’re making Despe lose to some 19 years old twink juste cause he’s an AEW guy. Makes the champ look like shit. Especially after Despe worked so much on the leg, just for that to get completely no sold in the end, I hate these type of matches. Makes all the guys who struggle to win against Despe look like shit imo. If they want to bring outsiders from AEW they really need to give them a different type of booking cause it feels like it’s always the same shit.
Like it’s okay to not have everyone still able to get to the finals by the end of the tournament. Different levels should be established, especially when the guy coming from AEW is a fucking teenager. Not saying he should get 0 points but pretty close to it, doesn’t mean he would get buried. Wrestlers had great runs getting almost no point in these types of tournament. (like Honma’s G1 25 run for example)
-ELP on commentary is always a delight. Lil Despy + family near ringside was adorable
-Good to see Zayne Jay as a legit young lion. Dude’s got potential
-MAO’s square gag kills me everytime. Feels so random but brilliant
-Loving Wheel-san. I hope he gets a grander and grander reveal every time
-Dragon Dia’s gear looks so much better now
-Fujita might be a top 3 guy in the company for me rn. He’s so fucking good
Heavily early days but I’m always wary of people doing too well out of the gate so I’ve been mulling over other winner options than my hope for Fujita/Eagles
What if Hiromu wins the tourney to make it 5-time and has the final major match against Despy, culminating in him creating a new faction alongside him, the remnants of LIJ, and whoever else will fit?
This assumes that NJPW would pivot that hard after Naito’s departure and they were as unsatisfied by their last matchup as I was, but I like it a lot as a potential direction (even though I’ve been waiting for them to crown a new Jr ace since Despy won last year)
There are probably other ways for that faction to come together, but it’d also be great to see Hiromu finally achieve Jr tag gold alongside his biggest rival (and they could fulfil the potential that the Okada/Tana pairing never did)
Thought this was a great night of the tournament and I’m looking forward to tomorrow. MAO vs Ishimori, Despy vs Wayne, and Hiromu vs Fujita were my favorites from the night. I wouldn’t be surprised if Despy/Wayne have a rematch at Forbidden Door for the IWGP Jr title.
I think Fujita goes all the way and has just a few key loses (KUSHIDA, Robbie X, and potentially Mack or Kanemaru) before beating Clark Connors to advance. MAO and Wayne are getting the standard outsider booking of “win my first 4-5 matches and then lose the rest.”
I think B Block is set up to have most of them flutter around 10 points with the winner being whoever gets 12 (6 wins, 3 losses). Ishimori and YOH are probably each going 0-3 before winning the rest of their matches and meeting on the final night. YOH beating Despy in the main event of Osaka and losing to Ishimori seems really likely to me and we’ll get Ishimori vs Fujita in the final where it could go either way. Ishimori finally gets a BOSJ win or they give Fujita a huge moment.
Anyone can say Nick Wayne is the biggest bestest wrestler in the world but he’s really a kid who’s been wrestling less than a decade and just thoroughly humiliated a NJPW champion all to set up a potential match at an foreign show that could lead to a title disappearing into another company for enough time to majorly damage an entire division
I thought it was a really fun show from top to bottom. Even the HoT stuff was pretty funny and didn’t wear out its welcome too bad.
Fujita vs Hiromu was great and my MotN.
MAO has also been great so far, but he’s missed that headbutt spot by a mile in both matches. Ishimori wasn’t sure whether to sell it or not. That match was still awesome imo.
I liked Wayne vs Despy. They had pretty good chemistry despite a few miscommunications. It was hilarious when Despy was trying to bait Wayne to hit him during the leg submission so he could do the fall over leg wrench spot, but Wayne didn’t pick up on it and grabbed the rope instead. Despy just shrugged and did the spot anyway LOL.
This year has been a bit more exciting from the jump than last year’s tournament (which I thought was still very solid). Looking forward to tonight’s show.
Desperado doing tricks and kickflips on AEW’s dick while they actively ignore him 💔.
It’s not always that Reddit shows to me, but these posts of yours bringing the results of every (or almost every) NJPW show is the only way that I can keep up with the company’s product
Love to see NJ get Mao under contract. He’d be a top guy in the junior division.
Nick Wayne is what uninformed people claim Callum Newman to be – a knockoff young Ospreay.
