hi, i got two of these mochi taiyaki from a convenience store yesterday, but upon looking closer there’s a small sticker that says “EXPIRED” on it. the best before date reads “9.3.2025.” can i still eat this? because i have no clue why the store would have 5 month old taiyaki in their fridge with all the other food, but at the same time why is the expired sticker on it? (also wondering why they would keep something that’s expired in the regular fridge anyways but whatever)
thanks!

Isn’t that September 3rd? You still have another week and a half??
The date shows it isn’t expired
It might be September 3rd, but it could also be 9th March.
Everybody saying the date isn’t expired, while most of the world uses DD/MM/YYYY format.
What country is that product from?
Eat it and find out lol
Only 1 way to find out
ITT Americans unable to read dates properly getting ill 💀
Op in case you ever need to know for future’s sake, Japanese products sold overseas(not shipped to another country in their packaging made in Japan) will use the date system of the country they plan on selling the item in.
Expiration dates are just suggestions btw
Open it, look at it, smell it, taste a bit
If it looks, smells and taste fine it is probably fine.
Foods with high sugar content can stay fine for long
My guess is the Canadian convenience store attendant also wasn’t sure if the sticker meant March or September, so they stuck an “expired” sticker on it to be safe from liability
In Japan they write dates as Year Month Day; so I’m assuming it’s America-made and thus wouldn’t be expired with that date?
It’s a cracker like cookie.
