Update: Let’s talk furikake. I have now bought shiso (wow!) and ebi fume (untested, but excited!) and pictured is next. I understand I need to add liquid.
The pictured one is more for “ochazuke,” rice + stuff + hot water (or hot tea), than furikake although it says furikake on it. But you can eat without water too, may be a bit salty that way. And wait a bit after you mix with rice without water so that wakame has time to expand.
Bonito is great and any of the ones with egg. I’ve heard umeboshi is good too, but I’ve never seen it in stores by me. I have had umeboshi(pickled plums) in onigiri before and it’s delicious. Definitely recommend if you get a chance, just watch out for the pit.
You can’t do ochazuke without Ocha
this isnt furikake, its used for ochazuke and its very salty if you just eat with gohan
The wasabi one is my favorite right now. It used to be salmon flakes. I’ve tried so many (will get every flavor they have at the store).
I use the Wakame Chazuke like a topping in miso soup or in hot pot. I also use it to make Maze Gohan it’s super yummy.
Salmon and Shrimp are my go tos.
If anyone can tell me what’s in the furikake at Yakiniku Like!, or know of a good dupe for it, please share your wisdom with me.
Noritama furikake is my jam , if you can get the ones in pouches.
I can’t stand most of the products from this brand. Almost every single one has sugar as the second listed ingredient and it makes your rice taste like candy, surprisingly I have found the doraemon ones to be way less sweet and a lot better.
You have Furikake and Chazuke. Difference is Furikake goes on hot rice and chazuke with hot water or hot tea. Hence: Chazuku for Ocha zuke. Both great!
