So this is from the latest episode of Golden Kamuy Final Season. I was aware that some foods that we consider Japanese are seen in Japan as foreign and not traditional. For example Gyoza which Japanese kinda considers as Chinese and even Ramen is seen as traditionally Chinese within Japan. But I was surprised that Tempura was actually considered as "western"? is it still considered Western today? I am quite confident that this info was accurate since the writter actually draws from real history.
What other foods do we consider Japanese are not considered Traditionaly japanese at all today or in the past?
