  1. Just throw the entire thing out. Parasitic worms are not good for humans.

  2. Worm, sockeye (wild caught) will almost always have parasites. Hopefully it was frozen to the proper temp

  3. Since it’s salmon, it’s probably Anisakis. It’s a parasite.

It’s gross, but it’s not exactly rare.

  4. Most likely anisakis worm parasite. It’s most likely been frozen dead so it’s just harmless extra protein now.

  5. Sake needs to be washed and partially cured as it’s a fish that goes from freshwater to salt water.

    Fresh Sake stakes:

    1) Rinse

    2) Thick layer of salt (draws out parasites)

    3) Rice wine vinegar bath (kills parasites)

  6. This is why most prefer farmed salmon for sushi. Farmed bluefin if at all possible too.

  7. If anisakis (herring worm) is seen in raw sushi you should be careful and definitely tell your doctor. This sushi place probably has lower standards…
Kinda odd they didn’t see it in preparation of the salmon.
Can cause tape worm infection also apparently

  8. Parasite. If it already eggs in the fish and you are the sushi chances are it is inside you not waiting to hatch

  9. Parasite. If you took a bite of the sushi chances are there were eggs and its inside of you now waiting to hatch =/
