My husband is obsessed with “Mensen” (noodle alignment). He made this refreshing cold Udon with lemon and spinach, paying extra attention to every single strand! ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿœ [OC]

Inspired by Sudachi-nu (Sudachi noodles), he used lemon slices for a refreshing summer vibe. Look at the flow of the spinach too! He spent so much time arranging it just to make me smile. I'm a lucky wife. ๐Ÿ˜Šโœจ

  1. Looks like he did a great job.

Might be worth mentioning that many places in Japan known for their pretty ็››ใ‚Šไป˜ใ‘/moritsuke/plating will arrange the noodles so that they all flow in the same direction, often in a circular pattern with a twist or with the noodles all lined up and parallel to each other in a “flat/square” pattern.

You can do an image search using “ใ†ใฉใ‚“ใฎ็››ใ‚Šไป˜ใ‘” for examples.

Also, “mensen” / ้บบ็ทš might be confused with a Taiwanese style noodle dish. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%BA%BA%E7%B7%9A

  2. I don’t see any noodle alignment. Paid “extra attention” to “every single strand”? Looks pretty random, to me.

  3. Your husband is my soul friend lol)

Arrangement and presentation of the food on a plate is a part of the experience

French living in Japan , countries have the best 2 cuisines in the world including craftsmanship in the presentation

  4. Iโ€™m sorry if using AI tools made some of you feel uncomfortable.

As a Japanese person who isnโ€™t fluent in English, I used them because I really wanted to share my husbandโ€™s passion for cooking and his “Omotenashi” spirit with you all in a polite and accurate way.

I’m still learning the Reddit culture and English, so please bear with me. Thank you to everyone who has been so welcoming and supportive!
